Agave attenuata, even though it’s commonly called the “Ghost Agave”, it’s not “Scary” at all! In fact, it’s the most “tame” member of the Agave family with soft, smooth, toothless, leaves of blue-grey. Quite versatile, it can make itself at home in a tropical, Mediterranean, or desert landscape. The “Ghost” can form large “heads” up to 3 feet across and elevating slightly on brown trunk stems to almost 4 feet tall. Branching at the base, they can form substantial clumps. Recommended for coastal areas only, as it can be quite frost sensitive. Unlike some of its other family members who are strictly water-wise, this one also flourishes with regular or even substantial water and fertilizer for fast growth and beautiful color.
