Common name: Rocket Torch Cactus

Cleistocactus hylacanthus hyb., commonly known as the Rocket Torch Cactus, reminds us of a “cactus” version of the iconic desert Ocotillo, because of its wand-like arms branching from the base, bearing hot orange-red flowers much of the year! Vertical stems form clumps up to 3 ½ ‘ tall and about as wide. Dense white and silver thorns are their own show when back-lit by morning or evening sun. Hardy to low 20’s, full sun. Excellent coast, valley, or deserts. Crazy, tall, indoor house plant in hot sunny windows.
