Common Name: Dwarf Perennial Scabiosa
Scabiosa columaria, commonly known as Dwarf Perennial Scabiosa is low growing pinnate leaves in a rosette give rise to dozens of stems bearing hundreds of tiny petaled, frosty blue flowers, bunched together into round orbs, their flower parts textured in appearance like small “pincushions” (but soft). In non-freeze climates, flowering season is off and on through most of the year except hottest summer. Trim off spent flower stems occasionally for clean-up and to encourage re-blooming. Hardy to sub-teens, but will die down in winter in cold climates and then re-emerge in spring. Full sun in coastal and cool climates, some light shade in hotter climates and seasons. Regular garden watering.
