We don’t think there is an single, or more brilliant, deep purple colored foliage plant for the landscape than the Tradescantia pallida virginiana! Forming strong, low growing mounds, it actually surprises people how much heat it can tolerate. Protect it from snails – that’s its one nemesis. Full sun to filtered light, beautiful in large pots, or planters too. Hardy to low 30’s. Somewhat drought tolerant when established.
