Muhlenbergia capillaris

Common Name: Pink Wisp Grass

A very strong, bunch grass with slender, dark green leaf blades forming clumps up to 2’ wide by 1’ tall. Looks like a normal ornamental grass… AND THEN IT EXPLODES! It becomes covered with masses of wispy pink “flowers” looking almost like somebody spun cotton candy in the sun-light, on the top of the plant! This happens in September and October. Tends to remain low seed viability- so not invasive. Hardy to most climates of cold and heat. Full sun.
